Meet The Founders

This is the Brock family.

The story of Steadfast Recovery Ministries began in the midst of deep brokenness. Clay and Lauren Brock, from East Tennessee, met in 2018, in the peak of their pain and struggles, though neither one knew just how much the other was hurting. They didn’t know much back then and certainly didn’t have life figured out, but they knew they loved each other. They fell in love quickly and pretty much did everything backwards in their relationship. Both believed in God but they were not living a life that was conducive to a relationship with Christ. Despite this, In November 2020, Clay and Lauren got married. To the marriage, they brought dreams, goals, and a lot of baggage. Right after they got married, everything in their lives began to fall apart. Within 9 months of being married, any resemblance of a marriage was in total shambles.

Desperate for help, Clay and Lauren sat down with a couple they admired in their church to seek guidance. During this meeting, Clay’s stimulant addiction came to light. In August 2021, Clay went to rehab for the first time. What they expected to be a quick fix in a 30 day rehab quickly shifted when Clay relapsed the night he came home.

This was the start of a 6 month journey through rehab and relapse. By January 2022, Clay was in his 6th program. The weight of hopelessness was crushing on Clay and Lauren, and both were afraid nothing could help Clay. While in treatment, an aftercare coordinator recommended long term treatment for Clay and shared with them about a faith-based 12 month inpatient program in Georgia called No Longer Bound. Through the grace and mercy of God, Clay said yes to 12 months of treatment and Lauren said yes to one more year in this journey.

What happened over the course of the next 16 months was nothing short of a miracle. God met Clay and Lauren exactly where they were at. God interceded their lives, individually and within their marriage. Slowly over the span of months, Clay and Lauren learned how to communicate, learned about each other, processed and healed from years of pain and suffering, and through all of the hardships, figured out how to love each other in a healthy way. During this time, Clay and Lauren started dating again - dinners, hiking, exploring the area. Learning how to love each other in sobriety. It was during this period when both Clay and Lauren took their relationships with Christ from a transactional relationship to a foundational partnership. God became the forefront of their lives and their marriage. Clay and Lauren were going through extensive therapy throughout the week and on weekends, Lauren would travel to Georgia to visit Clay to continue working on their marriage.

In April 2023, during Clay’s first visit to their home since December 2021, they found out they were expecting their first child. A miracle child and the ultimate blessing from the Lord. In July 2023, Clay graduated No Longer Bound in Georgia. Clay and Lauren knew they needed to plant roots somewhere outside of Tennessee so in August 2023, they relocated to Charleston, SC and prepared to welcome their son, Elliott

Clay and Lauren experienced total transformation and regeneration through Christ. And because of this, they felt a strong calling that the lessons and hope they had found along the way were not meant to be kept to themselves but needed to be shared with other people like them. They also saw a need in the Low Country for a Christ-centered, culturally relevant recovery program that focused on the whole person and the entire family.

In 2024, that calling became a reality. Steadfast Recovery Ministries was born - built on biblical truth, proven recovery principles, and the unwavering belief that regeneration is possible through Christ.

Today, Clay serves as the Executive Director of SRM. Lauren serves as the Chief Development Officer / Chair of the board. Together, with God, their incredible team and community around them, this program has come to life and they continue to build upon this God-given mission.

“Steadfast Recovery Ministries is founded on a testimony that proves He turns graves into gardens. True restoration is possible. We know because we’ve lived it. If we can do it, anyone can.”
